LSLF

The foundation honors the memory of Lauri Strauss, who succumbed to Acute Myelogenous Leukemia at the early age of 26.

MISSION

   • The purpose of the Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation is to:
   • Find a cure for leukemia and allied cancers by means of awarding Discovery Grants for innovative      developmental research projects
   • Provide for palliative care
   • Conduct marrow drives
   • Promote marrow donor and cord-blood donor education.

DISCOVERY GRANTS

Our grants supply seed money to innovative research projects at most of the country’s most respected medical institutions. Each project represents one important piece of the puzzle toward understanding leukemia and allied cancers. To date, our grants total more than $3 million. Subsequently, grantees have generated over $130 million in additional funding, publishing significant papers, winning research awards and contributing directly to new drugs and protocols now in use.

FUNDING

Each year, with the guidance of our distinguished Medical Advisory Board, The Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation invites proposals for innovative new research projects. The Medical Board reviews applications and recommends the most promising projects to the LSLF Board of Directors. We carefully monitor each grant allocation. No funds may be used by the receiving institution forcapital equipment, administration, overhead or indirect costs. We require mid-term and end-of-project reports, along with a budget expense report prior to the final disbursement of the grant.

PARTNERS IN RESEARCH

Grants in the name of individuals, foundations and companies are welcome in partnership with our Foundation. The cost of a named grant is $50,000. Named Partnership Grants are selected according to the guidelines of our medical grant applications and pursuant to the review of our Medical Advisory Board. The Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation is unusual in that you, as a Named Partner in Research, will receive progress reports, can meet the investigator(s) and can thereby have a personal connection to the research.
